Job Summary:
As a Mail Carrier, you will be responsible for delivering mail and packages to customers in a designated area. You will be the face of the United States Postal Service (USPS) and will interact with customers on a daily basis. Your duties will include sorting and delivering mail, handling customer inquiries, and maintaining a safe and efficient delivery route.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and deliver mail and packages to customers in a designated area
- Maintain accurate records of mail and packages delivered and undeliverable mail
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and courteous manner
- Operate a mail truck or vehicle to transport mail and packages
- Lift and carry mailbags and packages weighing up to 70 pounds
- Walk or stand for long periods of time while delivering mail
- Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
- Report any issues or concerns to supervisors or management
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to lift and carry mailbags and packages weighing up to 70 pounds
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
- Valid driver's license (if applicable)
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customer service or delivery role
- Knowledge of the USPS and its operations
- Ability to speak multiple languages
- Experience with mail sorting and delivery software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment:
- Work is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- May be required to work in a mail processing facility or office
- May be required to work in a fast-paced and noisy environment
- May be required to work in a confined space or on uneven terrain
Physical Demands:
