Aalto webmail imap settings
Aalto University's webmail service uses IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to connect to email accounts. Here are the IMAP settings you can use to set up your Aalto University email account on your email client:
IMAP Settings:
- Server: imap.aalto.fi
- Port: 993 (SSL/TLS)
- Username: Your Aalto University email address (e.g., [your_username]@aalto.fi)
- Password: Your Aalto University email account password
- Authentication: Normal password authentication
Note: Make sure to use the correct username and password, as they are case-sensitive.
Additional settings:
- SSL/TLS: Enable SSL/TLS encryption to ensure a secure connection.
- Authentication: Choose "Normal password authentication" or "OAuth2" if your email client supports it.
- Folder structure: Aalto University's IMAP server uses a standard folder structure, with the following folders:
- Inbox
- Outbox
- Drafts
- Sent
- Trash
- Junk
- Spam
Email client settings:
- Outlook: Go to File > Account Settings > Manage Profiles > Add > Manual setup or additional server types > Internet Email > Next. Enter the IMAP settings above and click "Finish".
- Thunderbird: Go to Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings > IMAP. Enter the IMAP settings above and click "OK".
- Apple Mail: Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Add Account > Other Mail Account. Enter the IMAP settings above and click "Create".
Troubleshooting:
- If you encounter issues connecting to the IMAP server, check your username and password, and ensure that your email client is configured correctly.
- If you're using a firewall or antivirus software, ensure that it's not blocking the IMAP connection.
