Access msn email from gmail
A blast from the past! MSN (Microsoft Network) email was a popular email service in the early 2000s, but it's no longer actively supported by Microsoft. However, you can still access your MSN email account from Gmail using a few workarounds. Here are a few methods:
Method 1: Use IMAP
MSN email uses IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to connect to your email account. You can set up your MSN email account to use IMAP in Gmail. Here's how:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
- Go to the "Accounts and Import" tab.
- Click on "Add a POP3 mail account" and enter your MSN email address and password.
- Select "IMAP" as the protocol and enter the following settings:
- Server: imap.hotmail.com (for @hotmail.com addresses) or imap.msn.com (for @msn.com addresses)
- Port: 993
- SSL/TLS: Enabled
- Click "Add account" to complete the setup.
Method 2: Use POP3
If you prefer to use POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) instead of IMAP, you can set up your MSN email account to use POP3 in Gmail. Here's how:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
- Go to the "Accounts and Import" tab.
- Click on "Add a POP3 mail account" and enter your MSN email address and password.
- Select "POP3" as the protocol and enter the following settings:
- Server: pop3.hotmail.com (for @hotmail.com addresses) or pop3.msn.com (for @msn.com addresses)
- Port: 110
- SSL/TLS: Enabled
- Click "Add account" to complete the setup.
Method 3: Use a third-party email client
You can also use a third-party email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird to access your MSN email account. These clients often have built-in support for MSN email and can be configured to access your account using IMAP or POP3.
Important notes
- MSN email is no longer actively supported by Microsoft, so you may encounter issues or limitations when accessing your account.
- Some features, such as calendar and contacts, may not be available or may not work as expected.
- You may need to use your MSN email account's original password to access your account, as some accounts may have been migrated to Outlook.com or other Microsoft services.
