Access yahoo mail via android imap

A blast from the past!

While Yahoo Mail no longer supports IMAP access by default, you can still access your Yahoo Mail account via IMAP on your Android device using a few workarounds. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Method 1: Using a third-party IMAP client

  1. Install a third-party IMAP client app on your Android device, such as:
    • K-9 Mail
    • AndMail
    • IMAP Mail
  2. Configure the app to connect to your Yahoo Mail account using the following settings:
    • Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    • Port: 993 (SSL) or 143 (TLS)
    • Username: Your Yahoo Mail address (e.g., [your_email_address]@yahoo.com)
    • Password: Your Yahoo Mail password
  3. Enable IMAP access in your Yahoo Mail account settings:
    • Log in to your Yahoo Mail account on a web browser
    • Click on the gear icon () and select "Settings"
    • Scroll down to the "More Settings" section and click on "Account"
    • Under "Account Settings," click on "IMAP Access"
    • Enable IMAP access by toggling the switch to the "On" position

Method 2: Using the built-in Android Email app

  1. Open the built-in Android Email app
  2. Tap the "Menu" button (three vertical dots) and select "Add account"
  3. Choose "Other" as the account type
  4. Enter your Yahoo Mail address and password
  5. Tap "Next" and then "Manual setup"
  6. Select "IMAP" as the account type
  7. Enter the following settings:
    • Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    • Port: 993 (SSL) or 143 (TLS)
    • Username: Your Yahoo Mail address (e.g., [your_email_address]@yahoo.com)
    • Password: Your Yahoo Mail password
  8. Tap "Next" and then "Finish"

Important notes:

Remember that Yahoo Mail's IMAP support is no longer officially supported, and you may encounter issues or limitations when using these methods. If you're experiencing problems, you may want to consider using Yahoo Mail's official mobile app or switching to a different email provider that supports IMAP access.
