Adams County Jail Inmate Mail Guidelines:
General Guidelines:
- All incoming mail must be addressed to the inmate's name and ID number.
- Mail must be sent through the United States Postal Service (USPS) or a private mail service.
- Mail sent through other carriers, such as UPS or FedEx, will not be accepted.
- All mail must be in a sealed envelope or package.
- No contraband or illegal materials are allowed.
Specific Guidelines:
- Letters: Letters are allowed, but they must be written in ink and on paper. No stickers, stamps, or drawings are allowed.
- Photos: Photos are allowed, but they must be 4x6 inches or smaller and not contain any nudity or offensive content.
- Books and Magazines: Books and magazines are allowed, but they must be sent directly from the publisher or a bookstore. No used or second-hand materials are allowed.
- Packages: Packages are allowed, but they must be sent through the USPS and meet the following requirements:
- The package must be addressed to the inmate's name and ID number.
- The package must be marked "Inmate Mail" and have the inmate's ID number on the outside.
- The package must be no larger than 12 inches x 12 inches x 12 inches.
- The package must be sealed and not contain any contraband or illegal materials.
Prohibited Items:
- Contraband, including drugs, weapons, and other illegal items.
- Pornographic materials.
- Obscene or offensive content.
- Any item that could be used as a weapon or to cause harm.
- Any item that could be used to facilitate escape or disrupt the operation of the jail.
Mail Screening:
- All incoming mail is subject to screening and inspection by jail staff.
- Mail that is deemed to be contraband or illegal will be returned to the sender or confiscated.
- Inmates are not allowed to receive mail that is deemed to be a threat to their safety or the safety of others.
