Add windows mail as trusted app to gmail
To add Windows Mail as a trusted app to your Gmail account, you'll need to allow less secure apps to access your account. Here's how:
Step 1: Enable Less Secure Apps
- Sign in to your Gmail account.
- Click on your profile picture or initial in the top right corner, then select "My Account" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "Signing in to Google" section.
- Click on "Apps with account access".
- Toggle the switch next to "Allow less secure apps: ON".
Step 2: Allow Windows Mail to Access Your Gmail Account
- Open Windows Mail on your computer.
- Click on "File" > "Add account" and select "Manual setup or additional server types".
- Select "Internet Email" and click "Next".
- Enter your Gmail account details:
- Email address: your Gmail address
- Password: your Gmail password
- POP3 Server: pop.gmail.com
- SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 995 (for POP3) or 587 (for SMTP)
- Click "Next" and then "Finish" to complete the setup.
Note: If you're using 2-Step Verification (2SV) on your Gmail account, you'll need to generate an App Password and use that instead of your regular password.
Additional Tips:
- Make sure you're using the correct server settings for your Gmail account. You can find these settings in your Gmail account settings or by searching online.
- If you're using a Gmail account that's been compromised or is being used for malicious activities, you may need to take additional steps to secure your account before allowing less secure apps to access it.
- Keep in mind that allowing less secure apps to access your Gmail account may increase the risk of your account being compromised. It's always a good idea to use strong, unique passwords and enable 2SV whenever possible.
