After downloading mails on outlook the emails get deleted

That's frustrating!

There could be several reasons why your emails are getting deleted after downloading them on Outlook. Here are some possible causes and solutions:

  1. Auto-Delete Setting: Check if you have an auto-delete setting enabled in Outlook. Go to File > Options > Advanced > Send/Receive > Settings. Look for the "Delete read items" or "Delete items older than" options. If you have these settings enabled, try disabling them.
  2. Deleted Items Folder: Check if the emails are being moved to the "Deleted Items" folder instead of being deleted permanently. Go to the "Deleted Items" folder and see if the emails are there. If they are, you can recover them by dragging them back to the "Inbox" or another folder.
  3. Outlook's "Empty Deleted Items Folder" Feature: Outlook has a feature that automatically empties the "Deleted Items" folder after a certain period. This might be causing your emails to disappear. To disable this feature, go to File > Options > Advanced > Send/Receive > Settings. Look for the "Empty 'Deleted Items' folder" option and uncheck it.
  4. Third-Party Add-ins: Some third-party add-ins might be interfering with your email download process. Try disabling any recently installed add-ins to see if they're causing the issue.
  5. Outlook's "Download Complete" Behavior: Outlook might be configured to delete emails after they're downloaded. To change this behavior, go to File > Options > Advanced > Send/Receive > Settings. Look for the "Download complete items" option and select "Leave on server" instead of "Delete from server".
  6. Email Client Settings: Check your email client settings to ensure that they're not configured to delete emails after download. You can do this by going to the email client's settings or preferences and looking for options related to email deletion.
  7. Server-Side Settings: If you're using an Exchange server, check with your administrator to see if there are any server-side settings that might be causing the issue.

If none of these solutions work, you can try resetting Outlook's settings or seeking assistance from Microsoft Support or your email provider's support team.
