Alex and sierra apple mail folder location
A very specific question!
The location of the "Alex" and "Sierra" mail folders in Apple's Mail app on a Mac depends on the version of macOS you're running. Here are the locations for different versions:
macOS High Sierra (10.13) and later:
- The "Alex" and "Sierra" mail folders are stored in the following locations:
~/Library/Mail/V2/Messages
: This is the default location for all mail folders, including the "Alex" and "Sierra" folders.~/Library/Mail/V2/Local
: This is where the actual email data is stored.
macOS Sierra (10.12) and earlier:
- The "Alex" and "Sierra" mail folders are stored in the following locations:
~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
: This is the default location for all mail folders, including the "Alex" and "Sierra" folders.~/Library/Mail/Local
: This is where the actual email data is stored.
Note: The ~/
symbol represents your user directory, which is usually username
on a Mac.
To access these folders, you can use the Finder or the Terminal app. Here's how:
- Open the Finder and navigate to the desired location using the path above.
- Alternatively, open the Terminal app and use the
cd
command to navigate to the desired location. For example:cd ~/Library/Mail/V2/Messages
(for macOS High Sierra and later)cd ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
(for macOS Sierra and earlier)
Keep in mind that these folders are hidden by default, so you may need to use the ls
command in the Terminal to list the contents of the folder.
