Alice adsl email

A blast from the past!

Alice ADSL was a popular email service provided by British Telecom (BT) in the UK, which was launched in the late 1990s. It was one of the first widely available internet services in the UK, offering dial-up internet access and email accounts to consumers.

Here are some key features of Alice ADSL email:

  1. Email address: Users had an @alice.co.uk email address, which was a unique identifier for their account.
  2. Webmail interface: Alice ADSL provided a web-based email interface, allowing users to access their email accounts online.
  3. POP3 and SMTP: Users could also access their email accounts using POP3 and SMTP protocols, allowing them to check and send emails using third-party email clients.
  4. Storage: Alice ADSL email accounts had a limited storage capacity, typically around 10-20 MB.
  5. Spam filtering: The service included basic spam filtering, which helped to reduce the amount of junk mail in users' inboxes.
  6. Security: Alice ADSL email accounts were protected by basic security measures, such as password protection and encryption.

In 2007, BT rebranded Alice ADSL as BT Mail, and the service was eventually phased out in favor of newer, more advanced email services. Today, BT offers a range of email services, including BT Mail and BT Cloud Email, which provide more features and storage capacity than the original Alice ADSL service.
