All of sudden outlook mail going to junk

Frustrating! Outlook's junk mail filter can be quite aggressive at times. Here are some steps to help you resolve the issue:

  1. Check your Junk Email settings:
    • Go to Outlook's Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Junk email.
    • Ensure that the "Junk email" feature is enabled. If it's not, toggle the switch to turn it on.
    • Check the "Trust level" setting. If it's set to "High", try reducing it to "Medium" or "Low" to see if it helps.
  2. Whitelist senders:
    • Go to Outlook's Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Junk email > Safe senders.
    • Add the sender's email address or domain to the "Safe senders" list. This will ensure that emails from these senders are not marked as junk.
  3. Mark emails as not junk:
    • Open the email that was incorrectly marked as junk.
    • Click the "Not junk" button (it looks like a white flag) in the top-right corner of the email.
    • This will help Outlook learn that emails from this sender are not spam.
  4. Check for spam filters:
    • Some organizations or internet service providers (ISPs) may have their own spam filters that can interfere with Outlook's junk mail filter.
    • Contact your organization's IT department or ISP to see if they have any specific settings or configurations that might be causing the issue.
  5. Clear Outlook's junk email cache:
    • Go to Outlook's Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Junk email > Junk email cache.
    • Click the "Clear" button to remove any cached junk email data.
  6. Check for updates:
    • Ensure that Outlook is up to date by checking for updates in the Microsoft Store (for Outlook 2016 and later) or by updating your Outlook client manually.
  7. Reset Outlook's junk email settings:
    • Go to Outlook's Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Junk email > Reset junk email settings.
    • This will reset Outlook's junk email settings to their default values.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you can try resetting Outlook's junk email settings to their default values or seeking assistance from Microsoft Support.
