Setting up Amazon Domain Mail!

To set up Amazon Domain Mail, you'll need to follow these steps:

Prerequisites:

  1. You have an Amazon Web Services (AWS) account.
  2. You have a domain name registered with a registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).
  3. You have a valid email address associated with your AWS account.

Step 1: Create an Amazon SES (Simple Email Service) account

  1. Log in to your AWS Management Console.
  2. Navigate to the AWS SES dashboard.
  3. Click on "Create an Amazon SES account" and follow the prompts to create a new account.
  4. Verify your email address by clicking on the verification link sent to your email address.

Step 2: Set up your domain with Amazon SES

  1. Go to the AWS SES dashboard and click on "Domains" in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click on "Create a new domain" and enter your domain name.
  3. Select "Verify" and follow the prompts to verify your domain ownership.
  4. Once verified, click on "Create a new domain" again and select "Set up Amazon SES" as the domain type.

Step 3: Configure your domain's MX records

  1. Log in to your domain registrar's control panel.
  2. Find the DNS settings or zone editor for your domain.
  3. Add the following MX records:
    • Priority 10: mx1.email-amazon.com
    • Priority 20: mx2.email-amazon.com
    • Priority 30: mx3.email-amazon.com
  4. Save the changes to your DNS settings.

Step 4: Set up your Amazon SES email address

  1. Go to the AWS SES dashboard and click on "Email addresses" in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click on "Create an email address" and enter a new email address (e.g., [yourname]@yourdomain.com).
  3. Select "Verify" and follow the prompts to verify your email address.

Step 5: Configure your email client

  1. Set up your email client (e.g., Outlook, Gmail, etc.) to use your Amazon SES email address.
  2. Configure your email client to use the Amazon SES SMTP server:
    • Server: email-smtp.amazonaws.com
    • Port: 587
    • Username: your Amazon SES email address
    • Password: your Amazon SES email password

That's it! You should now have Amazon Domain Mail set up and ready to use.
