To set up AOL Basic (Verizon) email to text, you'll need to follow these steps:
Step 1: Enable Text Messaging on Your AOL Account
- Log in to your AOL account at www.aol.com.
- Click on the "Settings" icon (looks like a gear) in the top right corner.
- Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "Text Messaging" section.
- Click on "Enable Text Messaging" and follow the prompts to set up your phone number.
Step 2: Set Up Your Verizon Email Account
- Log in to your Verizon email account at www.verizon.net.
- Click on the "Settings" icon (looks like a gear) in the top right corner.
- Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "Text Messaging" section.
- Click on "Enable Text Messaging" and follow the prompts to set up your phone number.
Step 3: Configure Your AOL Email Client to Send Texts
- Open your AOL email client (e.g., AOL Desktop Gold).
- Click on the "Settings" icon (looks like a gear) in the top right corner.
- Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "Text Messaging" section.
- Click on "Configure Text Messaging" and select "Verizon" as your carrier.
- Enter your Verizon phone number and follow the prompts to complete the setup.
Step 4: Test Your AOL Email to Text Setup
- Compose a new email in your AOL email client.
- Enter the recipient's phone number in the "To" field (e.g., 555-555-5555).
- Type your message in the body of the email.
- Click the "Send" button.
- Your message should be sent as a text message to the recipient's phone.
