Aol email imap settings
The nostalgia!
To set up an AOL email account using IMAP, you'll need to use the following settings:
IMAP Settings:
- Server: imap.aol.com
- Port: 993 (SSL/TLS)
- Username: Your AOL email address (e.g., [email protected])
- Password: Your AOL email password
SMTP Settings:
- Server: smtp.aol.com
- Port: 587 (TLS)
- Username: Your AOL email address (e.g., [email protected])
- Password: Your AOL email password
Additional Settings:
- Authentication: Use the same username and password for both IMAP and SMTP.
- Encryption: SSL/TLS (recommended)
- Authentication Mechanism: PLAIN or LOGIN
Client-Specific Settings:
- Outlook: Go to File > Account Settings > Account > More Settings > Outgoing Server > My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Thunderbird: Go to Account Settings > Server Settings > IMAP > Authentication > Password.
- Apple Mail: Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [Your AOL Account] > Advanced > Use SSL/TLS.
Important Notes:
- AOL has specific requirements for IMAP and SMTP settings, so make sure to use the above settings exactly as specified.
- If you're using a third-party email client, you may need to configure additional settings or workarounds to get AOL email working properly.
- AOL has a known issue with IMAP connections, which may cause issues with syncing email. You can try using POP3 instead, but this may not be as reliable.
