Apple calendar opens browser instead of apple mail

A frustrating issue!

When you try to open an email link in Apple Calendar, it's supposed to open Apple Mail instead of a web browser. However, if it's not working as expected, here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:

  1. Check your default email client: Go to System Preferences > General > Default Email Reader. Make sure Apple Mail is selected as the default email client.
  2. Reset Apple Mail: Sometimes, resetting Apple Mail can resolve the issue. To do this, go to System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Apple Mail > Reset. Then, restart your Mac.
  3. Check your calendar settings: Open Apple Calendar, go to Calendar > Preferences > General, and ensure that "Open emails in" is set to "Mail" instead of "Browser".
  4. Disable "Open in Browser": Go to System Preferences > General > Advanced, and uncheck the box next to "Open 'safe' files after downloading". This might prevent Apple Calendar from opening email links in a browser.
  5. Reset your Calendar preferences: Go to System Preferences > Calendar > Reset Calendar Preferences. This will reset your calendar settings to their default values.
  6. Check for conflicts with other apps: If you have other email clients or apps installed, they might be interfering with Apple Calendar's ability to open email links. Try closing or uninstalling any conflicting apps to see if it resolves the issue.
  7. Reinstall Apple Mail: If none of the above steps work, you can try reinstalling Apple Mail. Go to System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Apple Mail > Uninstall Apple Mail. Then, restart your Mac and reinstall Apple Mail from the App Store.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you can try searching online for more specific solutions or reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance.
