In the Apple Mail app, you can enable contact images to display next to the contact's name in the message list. Here's how:

For macOS:

  1. Open the Apple Mail app.
  2. Go to Mail > Preferences (or use the keyboard shortcut Cmd +,).
  3. Click on the General tab.
  4. Check the box next to Show contact photos.

For iOS:

  1. Open the Apple Mail app.
  2. Tap on the Mail icon in the top left corner to open the menu.
  3. Tap on Settings.
  4. Scroll down and toggle on Show Contact Photos.

Once you've enabled contact images, you should start seeing the contact's image next to their name in the message list. Note that this feature requires that the contact has a photo associated with their contact card in your Contacts app.
