Apple mail attachments location
The location of Apple Mail attachments depends on the version of macOS and the type of attachment. Here are some general locations where you can find your attachments:
macOS High Sierra (10.13) and later:
- For most attachments, such as PDFs, images, and documents, you can find them in the "Downloads" folder in your user directory. To access this folder, go to Finder > Go > Downloads.
- For attachments that are not downloaded, such as emails with inline images, the attachments are stored in the "Mail" folder within your user directory. To access this folder, go to Finder > Go > Mail.
macOS Sierra (10.12) and earlier:
- For most attachments, such as PDFs, images, and documents, you can find them in the "Downloads" folder in your user directory. To access this folder, go to Finder > Go > Downloads.
- For attachments that are not downloaded, such as emails with inline images, the attachments are stored in the "Mail" folder within your user directory. To access this folder, go to Finder > Go > Mail.
Note: If you have enabled the "Save attachments to" option in Apple Mail preferences, you can specify a different location for your attachments. To do this, go to Apple Mail > Preferences > General > Save attachments to.
Additional tips:
- If you're looking for a specific attachment, you can use Spotlight search to find it. Press Command + Space to open Spotlight, type the name of the attachment, and press Enter.
- If you're having trouble finding an attachment, try checking the "Trash" folder in your user directory, as deleted attachments may still be stored there.
- If you're using a cloud storage service like iCloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox, your attachments may be stored online and not on your local machine.
