Apple mail attachments not as icon

The frustration of not seeing attachments as icons in Apple Mail!

This issue can occur due to various reasons, including:

  1. Attachment type: Some file types, like PDFs or text files, might not display as icons by default.
  2. Mail settings: Your Mail settings might be configured to display attachments as text or links instead of icons.
  3. Third-party plugins or add-ons: Certain plugins or add-ons might interfere with the attachment display.
  4. Mail client version: You might be using an older version of Apple Mail that doesn't support attachment icons.

To resolve the issue, try the following:

  1. Check your Mail settings:
    • Open Apple Mail and go to Mail > Preferences.
    • Click on "General" and ensure that "Show attachments as icons" is selected.
    • Click "OK" to save the changes.
  2. Update Apple Mail:
    • Check for updates in the App Store and install the latest version of Apple Mail.
  3. Disable third-party plugins or add-ons:
    • Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [Your Account Name] > Advanced.
    • Uncheck any third-party plugins or add-ons that might be interfering with attachment display.
  4. Try a different email account:
    • If you're experiencing the issue with a specific email account, try creating a new account or switching to a different account to see if the issue persists.
  5. Reset Apple Mail:
    • Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [Your Account Name] > Advanced.
    • Click on "Reset" and then "Reset Mailbox" to reset Apple Mail's settings to their default values.
