Apple mail auto refresh

The eternal quest for a seamless email experience!

Apple Mail does have a feature to auto-refresh your inbox, but it's not enabled by default. Here's how to enable it:

Method 1: Enable Auto-Refresh in Apple Mail Preferences

  1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
  2. Go to Mail > Preferences (or press Cmd +,).
  3. Click on General.
  4. Check the box next to Automatically refresh my mailbox.
  5. Choose how often you want your mailbox to refresh from the dropdown menu:
    • Every 1 minute
    • Every 5 minutes
    • Every 15 minutes
    • Every 30 minutes
    • Every 1 hour

Method 2: Enable Auto-Refresh using a Keyboard Shortcut

  1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
  2. Go to Mail > Preferences (or press Cmd +,).
  3. Click on Keyboard.
  4. In the Shortcuts section, click on + next to Mailbox.
  5. Choose Refresh mailbox from the dropdown menu.
  6. Assign a keyboard shortcut (e.g., Cmd + Shift + R).

Now, whenever you press the assigned keyboard shortcut, your mailbox will refresh automatically.

Note: If you're using a third-party email client or plugin, it may interfere with Apple Mail's auto-refresh feature. Try disabling any plugins or switching to a different email client to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps you achieve the seamless email experience you're looking for!
