Apple mail cancel sending message
The frustration of accidentally sending an email and wanting to cancel it!
In Apple Mail, you can cancel a sent message in some cases, but it's not always possible. Here are the steps to try:
Method 1: Cancel sending a message before it's delivered
- Go to the "Sent" folder in Apple Mail.
- Select the message you want to cancel.
- Click on the "Edit" menu and select "Cancel Sending" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + C).
- If the message has not been delivered yet, you should see a confirmation dialog box asking if you're sure you want to cancel the sending process. Click "Cancel" to cancel the sending process.
Method 2: Recall a sent message (if the recipient hasn't read it)
- Go to the "Sent" folder in Apple Mail.
- Select the message you want to recall.
- Click on the "Message" menu and select "Recall Sent Message" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + R).
- If the recipient hasn't read the message yet, you should see a confirmation dialog box asking if you're sure you want to recall the message. Click "Recall" to recall the message.
Important notes:
- Canceling a sent message or recalling a sent message only works if the recipient hasn't read the message yet.
- If the recipient has already read the message, it's too late to cancel or recall it.
- Some email providers, like Gmail, may not support recalling sent messages.
- Canceling or recalling a sent message may not always work, as it depends on the email provider's settings and the recipient's email client.
