Apple mail cannot delete account

Frustrating!

If you're unable to delete an account in Apple Mail, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check if the account is still active: Make sure the account is not still active on your device. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Accounts, and check if the account is listed. If it is, try to remove it from the list.
  2. Restart Apple Mail: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue. Quit Apple Mail, then reopen it.
  3. Check for conflicts with other accounts: If you have multiple email accounts set up in Apple Mail, try removing other accounts and then try to delete the problematic account.
  4. Try deleting the account from the Accounts preferences: Go to Apple Mail > Preferences > Accounts, select the account you want to delete, and click the minus (-) button at the bottom left corner of the window.
  5. Check for any pending changes: If you've made changes to the account settings recently, try saving those changes and then try to delete the account again.
  6. Reset Apple Mail: If none of the above steps work, try resetting Apple Mail. Go to Apple Mail > Preferences > General, and click "Reset Apple Mail". This will reset all of Apple Mail's settings to their default values.
  7. Check for any issues with the account provider: If you're unable to delete the account, it's possible that there's an issue with the account provider (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, etc.). Try contacting the provider's support team to see if there are any issues on their end.
  8. Try deleting the account from the System Preferences: If none of the above steps work, you can try deleting the account from the System Preferences. Go to System Preferences > Internet Accounts, select the account you want to delete, and click the minus (-) button at the bottom left corner of the window.

If none of these steps work, you may want to try reinstalling Apple Mail or seeking further assistance from Apple Support.
