Apple mail did not remember password

Frustrating! Don't worry, I'm here to help you troubleshoot the issue. Here are some steps to help you recover your Apple Mail password:

  1. Check your password manager: If you use a password manager like 1Password, LastPass, or Dashlane, check if you have saved your Apple Mail password there. If you do, try retrieving it from your password manager.
  2. Reset your Apple ID password: If you've forgotten your Apple ID password, you can reset it on the Apple ID website. Go to iforgot.apple.com, enter your Apple ID, and follow the instructions to reset your password.
  3. Check your Mail settings: Ensure that your Mail settings are correct. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts, and check that your account information is correct, including your password.
  4. Try recovering your password: If you're still having trouble, try recovering your password using the "Forgot Password" feature in Mail. To do this:
    • Open Mail and go to the "Accounts" tab.
    • Select your account and click the "Edit" button.
    • Click "Forgot Password" and follow the instructions to reset your password.
  5. Reset your Mail password: If the above steps don't work, you can try resetting your Mail password. To do this:
    • Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups.
    • Select your user account and click the "Login Options" button.
    • Click "Reset Password" and follow the instructions to reset your password.
  6. Re-enter your password: If you've reset your password, try re-entering it in Mail. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts, select your account, and enter your new password.
  7. Check for conflicts with other accounts: If you have multiple email accounts set up in Mail, try removing one or more accounts to see if it resolves the issue.
  8. Reinstall Mail: If none of the above steps work, you can try reinstalling Mail. Go to the App Store, search for "Mail", and reinstall the app.
