Apple mail display picture not icon

A minor but annoying issue!

If the display picture in Apple Mail is not showing up as an icon, but instead as a generic image or no image at all, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check the contact's email signature: Sometimes, the display picture is not showing up because the contact's email signature is not set up correctly. Try checking the contact's email signature to see if it's set to display a picture.
  2. Verify the contact's email address: Make sure the contact's email address is correct and not misspelled. A misspelled email address can cause the display picture to not show up.
  3. Check the contact's profile picture: Go to the contact's profile picture in the Contacts app (or the People app on macOS) and make sure it's set to display a picture. If it's not, try setting a new picture or updating the existing one.
  4. Check the Mail app settings: Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [Your Email Account] > Advanced. Make sure the "Use vCard with vCF" option is enabled. This option allows Mail to display contact pictures.
  5. Try updating the contact's information: Sometimes, updating the contact's information can resolve the issue. Try updating the contact's name, email address, or other details to see if it fixes the display picture issue.
  6. Check for conflicts with other email clients: If you're using multiple email clients or apps, it's possible that there's a conflict causing the display picture issue. Try closing other email clients or apps and see if the issue resolves.
  7. Reset the Mail app: If none of the above steps work, try resetting the Mail app. To do this, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [Your Email Account] > Advanced, and then click on the "Reset" button. This will reset the Mail app's settings to their default values.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you can try searching online for more specific solutions or reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance.
