Apple mail export function
Apple Mail has a built-in export function that allows you to export your emails, contacts, and other data to various formats. Here are the steps to export data from Apple Mail:
Exporting Emails:
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
- Select the mailbox or folder you want to export from the sidebar.
- Go to File > Export > Export Mailbox.
- Choose the export format: EML (individual emails), MBOX (mailbox), or PDF (emails as a PDF document).
- Select the export location and choose a name for the export file.
- Click Export to start the export process.
Exporting Contacts:
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
- Go to Mailbox > Contacts.
- Select the contacts you want to export by holding down the Command key and clicking on each contact.
- Right-click (or control-click) on the selected contacts and choose Export.
- Choose the export format: VCard (individual contacts), CSV (contacts as a comma-separated file), or Address Book (contacts in the Address Book format).
- Select the export location and choose a name for the export file.
- Click Export to start the export process.
Exporting Other Data:
Apple Mail also allows you to export other data, such as:
- Rules: Go to Mailbox > Rules and select the rule you want to export. Right-click (or control-click) on the rule and choose Export.
- Smart Mailboxes: Go to Mailbox > Smart Mailboxes and select the smart mailbox you want to export. Right-click (or control-click) on the smart mailbox and choose Export.
- Account Settings: Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and select the account you want to export. Right-click (or control-click) on the account and choose Export.
