Apple mail folder location

The location of Apple Mail folders on a Mac depends on the version of macOS you're using. Here are the locations for different versions:

macOS High Sierra (10.13) and later:

macOS Sierra (10.12) and earlier:

Note: The ~/ symbol represents your user directory, which is usually Users/YourUsername.

To access these folders, you can use the Finder or the Terminal app:

  1. Open the Finder and navigate to the ~/Library folder.
  2. Look for the Mail folder and open it.
  3. Inside the Mail folder, you'll find the V2 folder (or Local/V2 on older versions).
  4. You can also use the Terminal app to navigate to these folders using the following commands:
    • cd ~/Library/Mail/V2/ (or ~/Library/Mail/Local/V2/ on older versions)
    • cd ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index

Keep in mind that these folders are hidden by default, so you may need to use the Command + Shift +. keyboard shortcut to show hidden files and folders in the Finder.
