Here's a step-by-step guide to set up Apple Mail to use a POP3 account:
Step 1: Create a new account in Apple Mail
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac or iOS device.
- Click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Comma).
- Click on the "Accounts" tab.
- Click the "+" button at the bottom left corner of the window to create a new account.
Step 2: Enter your POP3 account settings
- In the "Account" window, select "Other Mail Account" and click "Continue".
- Enter your name, email address, and password.
- Select "POP3" as the account type.
- Enter the POP3 server address and port number provided by your email provider (e.g.,
pop.gmail.com

for Gmail). - Enter the SMTP server address and port number provided by your email provider (e.g.,
smtp.gmail.com

for Gmail). - Click "Create" to create the account.
Step 3: Configure POP3 settings
- In the "Account" window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Under "Incoming Mail Server", select "Use POP3" and enter the POP3 server address and port number.
- Under "Outgoing Mail Server", select "Use SMTP" and enter the SMTP server address and port number.
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
Step 4: Verify your account settings
- Click on the "Accounts" tab again.
- Select your new POP3 account and click the "Edit" button.
- Verify that the account settings are correct, including the POP3 and SMTP server addresses, port numbers, and authentication settings.
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
That's it! Your Apple Mail account should now be set up to use a POP3 account.
