Apple mail rules

Apple Mail Rules!

Apple Mail Rules, also known as Mail Rules, are a feature in Apple Mail that allows you to automate the organization and management of your email messages. With Mail Rules, you can create custom rules to sort, forward, delete, or perform other actions on incoming emails based on specific conditions.

Here are some examples of what you can do with Apple Mail Rules:

  1. Sort emails into folders: Create rules to automatically move emails from specific senders, containing specific keywords, or with specific attachments into designated folders.
  2. Forward emails: Set up rules to forward emails from specific senders or with specific keywords to other email addresses or accounts.
  3. Delete emails: Create rules to automatically delete emails from specific senders, containing specific keywords, or with specific attachments.
  4. Mark as read/unread: Set up rules to automatically mark emails as read or unread based on specific conditions.
  5. Notify you: Create rules to send you notifications when specific emails arrive in your inbox.
  6. Run scripts: Apple Mail Rules can also run AppleScript scripts to perform more complex tasks, such as sending emails to a specific folder or updating a database.

To create a new Mail Rule in Apple Mail:

  1. Open Apple Mail and go to Mail > Preferences > Rules.
  2. Click the + button to create a new rule.
  3. Choose the condition you want to apply to the rule (e.g., sender, recipient, subject, etc.).
  4. Choose the action you want to perform (e.g., move to folder, forward, delete, etc.).
  5. Set any additional options or criteria for the rule.
  6. Click Save to save the rule.
