To set up Apple Mail to use Gmail's SMTP server, you'll need to follow these steps:
Step 1: Enable Less Secure Apps in your Google Account
- Go to your Google Account settings.
- Click on "Security" from the menu.
- Scroll down to the "Less secure app access" section.
- Toggle the switch to "On".
Step 2: Configure Apple Mail
- Open Apple Mail on your Mac or iOS device.
- Go to "Mail" > "Preferences" (on Mac) or "Settings" (on iOS).
- Click on "Accounts" (on Mac) or "Accounts & Passwords" (on iOS).
- Click on the "+" button to add a new account.
- Select "Other" as the account type.
- Enter your Gmail address and password.
- Set the "Incoming Mail Server" to "imap.gmail.com" and the "Port" to "993".
- Set the "Outgoing Mail Server" to "smtp.gmail.com" and the "Port" to "587".
- Check the box next to "Use Authentication" and select "Password" as the authentication method.
- Click "Continue" and then "Create" to save the changes.
Step 3: Verify the Settings
- Go back to the "Accounts" (on Mac) or "Accounts & Passwords" (on iOS) screen.
- Select your Gmail account.
- Click on the "Advanced" tab (on Mac) or "Advanced" button (on iOS).
- Verify that the "Use SSL" option is enabled for both the incoming and outgoing servers.
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
