Apple mail split view

Split View in Apple Mail!

Split View is a feature in macOS that allows you to have two apps open at the same time, side by side, on the same screen. This can be super helpful when you need to reference two emails or messages simultaneously.

Here's how to enable Split View in Apple Mail:

  1. Open Apple Mail and make sure you're in the inbox or a message list view.
  2. Click and hold on the Mail app's title bar (the topmost part of the window) until the window starts to jiggle.
  3. Drag the Mail app's window to the left or right edge of the screen until you see a gray line. This is the Split View boundary.
  4. Release the mouse button or trackpad when you see the gray line, and the Mail app will snap into place, taking up half of the screen.
  5. Now, you can open another app, such as Safari, Notes, or another email client, and drag it to the other half of the screen.
  6. To resize the Split View, click and drag the vertical line between the two apps.
