Apple mail swipe options delete
In Apple Mail, when you swipe left or right on a message, you can perform various actions depending on your device and the version of iOS or macOS you're using. Here are the default swipe options for deleting a message:
iPhone/iPad (iOS 14 and later)
- Swipe left: Archive (move to the "All Mailboxes" folder)
- Swipe right: Delete (permanently delete the message)
iPhone/iPad (iOS 13 and earlier)
- Swipe left: Archive (move to the "All Mailboxes" folder)
- Swipe right: Trash (move to the "Trash" folder)
Mac (macOS 10.15 and later)
- Swipe left: Archive (move to the "All Mailboxes" folder)
- Swipe right: Delete (permanently delete the message)
Mac (macOS 10.14 and earlier)
- Swipe left: Archive (move to the "All Mailboxes" folder)
- Swipe right: Trash (move to the "Trash" folder)
To customize the swipe options on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Mail > Swipe Options. You can choose from the following options:
- Archive
- Delete
- Mark as Read
- Mark as Unread
- Flag
- Move to Junk
On your Mac, you can customize the swipe options by going to Mail > Preferences > General, and then clicking on the "Swipe Options" button.
