In Apple Mail, tagging is a feature that allows you to categorize and organize your emails using keywords or labels. This helps you quickly find and manage specific messages in your inbox. Here's how to use tagging in Apple Mail:
Creating a tag:
- Open Apple Mail and select an email message.
- Click on the "Tags" button in the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + T.
- In the "Tags" window, click on the "+" button to create a new tag.
- Enter a name for your tag, such as "Work" or "Personal".
- Click "OK" to create the tag.
Assigning a tag:
- Select an email message.
- Click on the "Tags" button in the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + T.
- In the "Tags" window, select the tag you want to assign to the message.
- Click "OK" to assign the tag.
Viewing tagged emails:
- In the Apple Mail sidebar, click on the "Tags" tab.
- You'll see a list of all your tags, along with the number of emails assigned to each tag.
- Click on a tag to view all the emails assigned to it.
Managing tags:
- To edit a tag, select it in the "Tags" tab and click the "Edit" button.
- To delete a tag, select it in the "Tags" tab and click the "Delete" button.
- To rename a tag, select it in the "Tags" tab, click the "Edit" button, and enter a new name.

- You can assign multiple tags to a single email message.
- You can use the "Tags" filter to quickly find emails with specific tags.
- You can also use the "Tags" button in the toolbar to quickly assign or remove tags from a message.
- If you have a large number of tags, you can use the "Tags" menu in the Apple Mail menu bar to quickly switch between tags.
