Are all the stimulus checks mailed out
Not all stimulus checks have been mailed out yet. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has been sending out Economic Impact Payments (EIPs), also known as stimulus checks, to eligible individuals and families since April 2020 as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The IRS has been sending out stimulus checks in batches, and the process has been ongoing. Here's an update on the status:
- Initial stimulus checks: The IRS sent out the first round of stimulus checks in April and May 2020 to eligible individuals who filed their 2018 or 2019 tax returns.
- Second stimulus checks: The IRS sent out the second round of stimulus checks in December 2020 and January 2021 to eligible individuals who filed their 2019 or 2020 tax returns.
- Third stimulus checks: The IRS began sending out the third round of stimulus checks in March 2021 to eligible individuals who filed their 2020 or 2021 tax returns.
As of March 2023, the IRS has sent out approximately 169 million stimulus checks, with the majority of them being mailed out. However, some individuals may still be waiting for their stimulus checks, either because:
- They haven't filed their tax return yet (if they're eligible based on their income).
- They're eligible for a larger stimulus check due to changes in their income or family size.
- They're eligible for a stimulus check but haven't received it yet due to issues with their tax return or identity verification.
If you're still waiting for your stimulus check, you can:
- Check the IRS's "Get My Payment" tool to see if your payment has been sent and when it will arrive.
- Contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 if you have questions or concerns about your stimulus check.
- File your tax return if you haven't already, as this may help you receive a stimulus check.
