Are social security statements still mailed

According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), they no longer mail paper statements to workers who are not yet receiving benefits. This change was implemented in 2011 as part of the SSA's efforts to reduce costs and increase online services.

However, if you are:

  1. Receiving benefits: You will still receive a paper statement annually, as long as you are receiving benefits.
  2. Turning 60 or older: You will receive a paper statement when you turn 60 or older, even if you're not receiving benefits.
  3. Requesting a statement: You can still request a paper statement online or by calling the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).

If you're not sure whether you're eligible for a paper statement, you can:

  1. Check your online account: Log in to your my Social Security account to see if you have a statement available.
  2. Contact the SSA: Call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) to ask about your statement.

Keep in mind that you can always access your Social Security statement online, which includes your earnings record and estimates of your future benefits.
