Are stimulus checks being mailed out now

The stimulus checks!

As of my knowledge cutoff, the IRS has been sending out Economic Impact Payments (EIPs), also known as stimulus checks, to eligible individuals and families since mid-April 2020. The payments were part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was signed into law on March 27, 2020.

The IRS has been mailing out the checks in batches, and the process is ongoing. If you're eligible for a stimulus check, you should have received it by now. However, if you haven't received yours yet, here are some possible reasons:

  1. You're not eligible: If you're not eligible for a stimulus check, you won't receive one. Check the IRS's eligibility criteria to see if you qualify.
  2. You're waiting for a payment: If you're eligible, but haven't received your payment yet, it might be delayed due to various reasons, such as:
    • Address issues: If your address is incorrect or incomplete, your payment might be delayed or returned to the IRS.
    • Bank account issues: If your bank account information is incorrect or you don't have a bank account, your payment might be delayed or mailed to you as a check.
    • Processing delays: The IRS might experience processing delays, which can cause a delay in sending out payments.
  3. You need to update your information: If you've recently changed your address, bank account, or other relevant information, you might need to update your information with the IRS to receive your payment.

To check the status of your stimulus check, you can:

  1. Use the IRS's Get My Payment tool: This online tool allows you to check the status of your payment, including the date it was mailed and the amount.
  2. Contact the IRS: You can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit your local IRS office to inquire about your payment.

Remember to keep an eye on your mailbox and bank account for any updates or notifications from the IRS.
