A charming idea! Here are some plans for a barn-style mailbox:

Design:

  1. Frame: Cut four pieces of 2" x 4" lumber to the desired length for the frame. Two pieces will be the sides, and two pieces will be the top and bottom. Assemble the frame using screws.
  2. Roof: Cut two pieces of 1" x 4" lumber to the desired length for the roof. Attach them to the top of the frame using screws.
  3. Shelves: Cut two pieces of 1" x 4" lumber to the desired length for the shelves. Attach them to the inside of the frame using screws.
  4. Mailbox door: Cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to the desired size for the mailbox door. Attach hinges to the door and attach it to the frame using screws.
  5. Mailbox body: Cut a piece of exterior-grade plywood or MDF to the desired size for the mailbox body. Attach it to the frame using screws.
  6. Back panel: Cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to the desired size for the back panel. Attach it to the back of the frame using screws.
  7. Finishing touches: Sand the entire structure to smooth out any rough edges. Apply waterproof glue and sealant to any gaps or joints. Paint or stain the structure if desired.
