Bcc mail vs cc
In email, BCC
(Blind Carbon Copy) and CC
(Carbon Copy) are two types of recipient fields that serve different purposes.
CC (Carbon Copy)
When you add someone's email address to the CC
field, they receive a copy of the email, just like the original recipient(s). The CC
field is used to keep others informed about the email conversation, often for informational purposes or to keep them updated on a project or decision.
When you CC
someone, their email address is visible to the original recipient(s), and they can see that they have been copied on the email.
BCC (Blind Carbon Copy)
When you add someone's email address to the BCC
field, they receive a copy of the email, but their email address is not visible to the original recipient(s). The BCC
field is used to send an email to someone without revealing their email address to others.
When you BCC
someone, their email address is not visible to anyone else, including the original recipient(s). This is useful when you want to send an email to someone without revealing their email address to others, such as when sending a newsletter or promotional email to a large number of recipients.
Key differences:
CC
recipients can see each other's email addresses, whileBCC
recipients cannot see each other's email addresses.CC
recipients are visible to the original recipient(s), whileBCC
recipients are not visible to anyone else.CC
is used for informational purposes, whileBCC
is used for privacy or confidentiality reasons.
When to use each:
- Use
CC
when you want to keep others informed about an email conversation, and you want them to be able to see each other's email addresses. - Use
BCC
when you want to send an email to someone without revealing their email address to others, or when you want to send a large number of emails without revealing the recipients' email addresses.
