Belgium cat mail delivery
A unique topic!
Belgium has a special postal service that delivers mail to cats, and it's called "Postcat". The service was launched in 2014 by the Belgian postal service, bpost, in collaboration with the animal welfare organization, Vlaamse Dierenwelzijn.
Here's how it works:
- Cat owners can sign up for the service by filling out a form and providing their cat's name, age, and address.
- The postal service then sends a special "Postcat" card to the cat's address, which is designed to look like a cat toy.
- The cat can then play with the card, and when it's done, the owner can return the card to the postal service.
- The postal service will then send a new "Postcat" card to the cat, and so on.
The purpose of the service is to provide entertainment and mental stimulation for cats, as well as to raise awareness about animal welfare and the importance of spaying/neutering pets.
Some interesting facts about Postcat:
- Over 10,000 cats have signed up for the service since its launch.
- The postal service receives over 1,000 "Postcat" cards per month.
- The service is available in both Dutch and French, the two official languages of Belgium.
- The "Postcat" cards are designed to be durable and easy to clean, as cats can be messy!
While Postcat is a unique and fun service, it's worth noting that it's not a substitute for regular veterinary care or socialization for cats.
