To configure Google Mail (Gmail) in Outlook using POP, follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable POP in Gmail

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
  3. Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
  4. Select the "Enable POP" option.
  5. Choose the account you want to use for POP access.
  6. Click "Save Changes."

Step 2: Configure Outlook to use POP

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
  2. Click on "Account Settings" and then select "Account Settings" again from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click on "New" to create a new email account.
  4. Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next."
  5. Select "POP" as the account type and click "Next."
  6. Enter the following information:
    • Your Name: Enter your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field.
    • Email Address: Enter your Gmail address.
    • POP3 Server: Enter pop.gmail.com.
    • Port: Enter 995.
    • Username: Enter your Gmail address.
    • Password: Enter your Gmail password.
  7. Click "Next" and then "Finish" to complete the setup.

Step 3: Configure Outlook to download emails

  1. Go to the "File" menu and select "Account Settings" again.
  2. Click on the "More Settings" button.
  3. Go to the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Under "Delivery," select the "Leave a copy of messages on the server" option.
  5. Set the "Expunge deleted items" option to "Never."
  6. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Step 4: Configure Outlook to send emails

  1. Go to the "File" menu and select "Account Settings" again.
  2. Click on the "More Settings" button.
  3. Go to the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  4. Select the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" option.
  5. Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."
  6. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Step 5: Test the connection

  1. Go to the "File" menu and select "Account Settings" again.
  2. Click on the "Test Account Settings" button.
  3. Outlook will test the connection and download any new emails.
