The joys of business reply mail (BRM) fees!
As of 2019, the United States Postal Service (USPS) charges the following fees for business reply mail:
Business Reply Mail (BRM) Fees
- Postage: The cost of postage for BRM is the same as regular First-Class Mail rates. As of 2019, the rates are:
- Letters (1 oz): $0.50
- Large Envelopes (1 oz): $0.95
- Flats (1 oz): $1.15
- Permit Fee: The permit fee is a one-time fee charged by the USPS to establish a BRM permit. The fee is:
- $25 for a 1-year permit
- $50 for a 5-year permit
- Annual Maintenance Fee: The annual maintenance fee is charged to maintain the BRM permit. The fee is:
- $25 per year
- Additional Fees:
- Address Correction Fee: $0.05 per piece for correcting addresses
- Return to Sender Fee: $0.05 per piece for returning undeliverable mail to the sender
Other BRM Options and Fees
- Business Reply Mail (BRM) with a Reply Mail Permit: This option allows you to use a pre-paid reply mail permit, which can be more cost-effective for high-volume mailings. The fee for a BRM permit is:
- $25 for a 1-year permit
- $50 for a 5-year permit
- Business Reply Mail (BRM) with a Metered Permit: This option allows you to use a postage meter to print postage on your BRM pieces. The fee for a metered permit is:
- $25 for a 1-year permit
- $50 for a 5-year permit
