Caltech.edu webmail 2.0

A blast from the past!

Caltech.edu's Webmail 2.0 was a web-based email client used by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) community. It was launched in the early 2000s and was a significant improvement over the previous webmail system.

Here are some key features of Caltech.edu's Webmail 2.0:

  1. Modern design: Webmail 2.0 had a sleek and modern design, with a clean interface and easy-to-use navigation.
  2. Improved search functionality: The search function was enhanced to allow users to quickly find specific emails, contacts, and calendar events.
  3. Enhanced calendar features: The calendar feature was improved to allow users to schedule meetings, set reminders, and share calendars with others.
  4. Contact management: Webmail 2.0 introduced a contact management system, allowing users to store and manage their contacts, including phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses.
  5. Threaded conversations: The email client introduced threaded conversations, making it easier to follow discussions and replies.
  6. Integration with other Caltech services: Webmail 2.0 was integrated with other Caltech services, such as the Caltech Directory and the Caltech Library.

Unfortunately, Caltech.edu's Webmail 2.0 is no longer in use. In 2014, Caltech migrated to a new email system, Microsoft Office 365, which offers a more modern and feature-rich email experience.

If you're a Caltech alum or current student, you might still have fond memories of using Webmail 2.0.
