Can't access my yahoo mail with windows live mail

Frustrating!

Windows Live Mail (WLM) is no longer supported by Microsoft, and it's not compatible with Yahoo Mail's newer security protocols. This is likely the reason you're having trouble accessing your Yahoo Mail account from WLM.

Here are a few possible solutions to help you access your Yahoo Mail account:

  1. Use Yahoo Mail's built-in settings: You can try setting up your Yahoo Mail account directly in the Yahoo Mail app or website. This will allow you to access your account without relying on WLM.
  2. Use a different email client: Consider using a different email client that is compatible with Yahoo Mail, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Use Yahoo Mail's IMAP settings: If you still want to use WLM, you can try setting up your Yahoo Mail account using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) settings. Here's how:
    • Go to Yahoo Mail's settings (gear icon) > More Settings > Accounts > Account Settings.
    • Scroll down to the "Account" section and click on "Edit" next to "Account type".
    • Select "IMAP" as the account type.
    • Note down the IMAP settings: imap.mail.yahoo.com (Incoming Mail Server), smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Outgoing Mail Server), and your Yahoo Mail login credentials.
    • In WLM, go to "Accounts" > "Add a new account" > "Other account" > "Manual setup".
    • Fill in the IMAP settings you noted down earlier.
  4. Use a third-party add-on: There are some third-party add-ons available that claim to allow WLM to access Yahoo Mail. However, be cautious when using these add-ons, as they may pose security risks.

Remember that WLM is no longer supported, and using it to access Yahoo Mail may not be secure or reliable. It's recommended to switch to a supported email client or use Yahoo Mail's built-in settings to access your account.
