Can emails have spaces

In the past, it was common for email addresses to not allow spaces, as they were considered special characters that could cause issues with email delivery. However, with the advancement of email protocols and the widespread adoption of email services, most modern email systems now allow spaces in email addresses.

According to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the official governing body for internet standards, email addresses can indeed contain spaces. In fact, the IETF's Request for Comments (RFC) 5322, which defines the format of email addresses, states that spaces are allowed in local parts (the part before the "@") of an email address.

However, it's worth noting that some older email systems or specific email services might still have limitations or restrictions on using spaces in email addresses. Additionally, some email clients or applications might not handle spaces in email addresses correctly, which could lead to issues with email delivery or display.

In general, it's still a good idea to avoid using spaces in email addresses, as they can cause issues with email delivery or make it harder for recipients to read and respond to emails. If you need to use a space in an email address, it's best to use a hyphen (-) or an underscore (_) instead, as these characters are more widely supported and less likely to cause issues.
