Can not paste into windows live mail message
Frustrating!
Windows Live Mail (WLM) can be a bit quirky when it comes to pasting content into messages. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:
- Check if the issue is specific to a particular email account: Try pasting content into a new message using a different email account. If it works, the problem might be specific to the account you're using.
- Clear the WLM cache: Sometimes, clearing the cache can resolve issues like this. To do this:
- Close WLM.
- Go to the folder where WLM stores its cache files (usually
C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
). - Delete the
cache
folder. - Restart WLM.
- Check for any add-ins or plugins: Some add-ins or plugins might be interfering with WLM's functionality. Try disabling any recently installed add-ins or plugins to see if it resolves the issue.
- Use the "Paste as plain text" option: When you try to paste content, right-click inside the message body and select "Paste as plain text" (or press Ctrl+Shift+V). This might help if there's an issue with formatting.
- Check for any formatting issues: If you're copying content from a web page or document, there might be formatting issues that are causing the paste to fail. Try copying the content into a plain text editor (like Notepad) and then copying it back into WLM.
- Update WLM: Make sure you're running the latest version of WLM. You can check for updates by going to the Windows Live Essentials website and following the prompts.
- Try a different method to paste content: Instead of using the right-click menu or Ctrl+V, try using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+V to paste the content.
- Reset WLM settings: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting WLM's settings to their default values. To do this:
- Close WLM.
- Go to the folder where WLM stores its settings files (usually
C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
). - Delete the
settings
folder. - Restart WLM.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, you might want to consider switching to a different email client or seeking further assistance from Microsoft Support.
