Can receive email windows live mail but no send

That's frustrating!

There could be several reasons why you're unable to send emails from Windows Live Mail, but can receive them. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:

  1. Check your account settings: Ensure that your account settings are correct and up-to-date. Go to File > Account Settings > Account > Advanced and verify that your email address, password, and server settings are correct.
  2. Outlook.com account issues: If you're using a Windows Live Mail account, it's possible that there's an issue with your Outlook.com account. Try signing in to your Outlook.com account to see if you can send emails from there. If you can't, it might be a problem with your account.
  3. SMTP server settings: Windows Live Mail uses the SMTP server settings to send emails. Check your SMTP server settings to ensure they're correct. You can find these settings in File > Account Settings > Account > Advanced > Outgoing Mail Server.
  4. Port settings: Make sure the port settings are correct. The default SMTP port is 587, but some ISPs or email providers might require a different port. Try changing the port to 25 or 465 to see if it resolves the issue.
  5. Firewall or antivirus software: Firewalls or antivirus software might be blocking the outgoing email connection. Try temporarily disabling your firewall or antivirus software to see if it resolves the issue.
  6. Windows Live Mail configuration: Sometimes, Windows Live Mail's configuration can get corrupted. Try resetting Windows Live Mail's configuration by going to File > Options > Advanced > Reset and then restarting the program.
  7. Update Windows Live Mail: Ensure that you're running the latest version of Windows Live Mail. You can check for updates by going to File > Help > Check for Updates.
  8. Try a different email client: If none of the above steps work, try using a different email client, such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, to see if you can send emails from there.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to contact your email provider's support team or Microsoft Support for further assistance.
