Can receive windows live mail but no send

A frustrating issue!

There are several reasons why you might be able to receive Windows Live Mail emails but not send them. Here are some potential solutions to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Check your account settings: Ensure that your account settings are correct and up-to-date. Go to Tools > Accounts > View or edit accounts, and verify that your email address, password, and server settings are correct.
  2. Outlook.com account issues: If you're using an Outlook.com account, try signing out and signing back in to your account. This might resolve any temporary issues.
  3. SMTP server settings: Check your SMTP server settings to ensure they're correct. You can find these settings in your email account settings or by contacting your email provider. Make sure the SMTP server is set to the correct port (usually 587 or 25).
  4. Firewall or antivirus software: Firewalls or antivirus software might be blocking the outgoing email connection. Try temporarily disabling these programs or configuring them to allow outgoing email connections.
  5. Windows Live Mail configuration: Try resetting Windows Live Mail's configuration by going to Tools > Options > Advanced > Send/Receive > Reset. This will reset the email client's settings to their default values.
  6. Email client cache: Clear the email client's cache by going to Tools > Options > Advanced > Send/Receive > Clear Cache. This might resolve any issues with cached data.
  7. Network connectivity: Ensure that your network connection is stable and working properly. Try sending an email using a different email client or service to rule out any network-related issues.
  8. Email provider issues: If you're still unable to send emails, it's possible that there's an issue with your email provider's servers. Try contacting your email provider's support team to see if they're experiencing any outages or issues.
  9. Windows Live Mail updates: Ensure that Windows Live Mail is up-to-date by checking for updates in the Microsoft Store or by downloading the latest version from the Microsoft website.
  10. Reinstall Windows Live Mail: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can try reinstalling Windows Live Mail. This will remove all email client settings and data, so be sure to back up your emails and contacts before doing so.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to consider using a different email client or service to send and receive emails.
