Method 1: Through the e-filing portal
- Log in to your e-filing account on the Income Tax India website (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in).
- Click on the "Profile Settings" tab.
- Click on the "Update Email ID" button.
- Enter your new email ID and confirm it by re-entering it in the "Confirm Email ID" field.
- Click on the "Submit" button.
Method 2: Through the Aadhaar-VID (Virtual ID) process
- Log in to your e-filing account on the Income Tax India website (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in).
- Click on the "Profile Settings" tab.
- Click on the "Update Email ID" button.
- Click on the "Update Email ID using Aadhaar-VID" button.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and verify it using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Enter your new email ID and confirm it by re-entering it in the "Confirm Email ID" field.
- Click on the "Submit" button.
Important notes:
- You can change your email ID only once in a financial year.
- The new email ID should be different from your existing email ID.
- If you have linked your PAN with your Aadhaar, you can use the Aadhaar-VID process to update your email ID.
