Can you get read receipts in mac mail

In macOS Mail, you can't get traditional read receipts like you would in some other email clients. However, there are a few workarounds to achieve similar functionality:

  1. Delivery Reports: You can enable delivery reports in Mail preferences to receive a notification when your email is delivered to the recipient's mailbox. To do this:
    • Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [Your Account]
    • Check the box next to "Delivery Status"
    • Click "OK"
    • Now, when you send an email, you'll receive a notification when it's delivered to the recipient's mailbox.
  2. Read Receipts using a Third-Party Plugin: There are several third-party plugins available that can add read receipt functionality to macOS Mail. Some popular options include:
    • Read Receipts (free): This plugin adds a "Request Read Receipt" button to the compose window, allowing you to request a read receipt from the recipient.
    • MailTrack (paid): This plugin provides more advanced features, including read receipts, delivery reports, and more.
    • ReadNotify (free): This plugin adds a "Request Read Notification" button to the compose window, allowing you to request a read notification from the recipient.
  3. Use a Third-Party Email Client: If you're looking for a more traditional read receipt experience, you might consider using a third-party email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, which offer built-in read receipt functionality.

Keep in mind that some email providers may not support read receipts or may have specific settings that need to be enabled for them to work. Additionally, some recipients may not be able to receive or respond to read receipts due to their email client or settings.
