Can you mail your passport application from any post office

In the United States, you can submit your passport application to the U.S. Department of State by mail, but you cannot do so from just any post office. Here are the options:

  1. Regional Passport Agency: You can submit your application to a Regional Passport Agency (RPA) in person or by mail. There are 26 RPAs located throughout the United States. You can find a list of RPAs on the U.S. Department of State's website.
  2. Post Office with a Passport Acceptance Facility: You can also submit your application to a post office that has a Passport Acceptance Facility. These facilities are located within post offices and are designated to accept passport applications. You can find a list of post offices with Passport Acceptance Facilities on the U.S. Postal Service's website. Not all post offices have this service, so it's essential to check beforehand.

To submit your application by mail, you'll need to:

  1. Fill out form DS-11 (Application for a U.S. Passport) and sign it in front of a passport acceptance agent or a notary public.
  2. Provide proof of U.S. citizenship, identity, and a photocopy of both sides of your ID.
  3. Provide a passport photo.
  4. Pay the application fee (currently $110 for a U.S. passport book or $40 for a U.S. passport card, with an execution fee of $35.50).
  5. Mail your application to the address listed on the form or to a Regional Passport Agency.

Remember to allow plenty of time for processing, as it can take 6-8 weeks for routine service or 2-3 weeks for expedited service.
