Can you request read receipts in google mail

In Gmail, you can't request read receipts for individual emails. However, there are a few workarounds to achieve similar functionality:

  1. Use a third-party add-on: There are several third-party add-ons available that can help you track when your emails are read. Some popular options include:
    • Boomerang: This add-on allows you to request read receipts and also provides features like email reminders and snoozing.
    • FollowUp.cc: This add-on sends you a notification when the recipient opens your email.
    • Read Receipt: This add-on sends a notification when the recipient opens your email.
  2. Use a custom label: You can create a custom label and add it to your emails. When the recipient opens the email, they can mark it as "read" and the label will be updated. To do this:
    • Go to the Gmail settings (gear icon) > Labels.
    • Click on "New label" and enter a name for your custom label (e.g., "Read").
    • Click "Create".
    • Go to the email you want to track and click on the three vertical dots > "Add label".
    • Select the custom label you created.
    • When the recipient opens the email, they can mark it as "read" and the label will be updated.
  3. Use a separate email account: If you have a separate email account, you can use it to send emails and request read receipts. This way, you can keep your personal and professional emails separate.

Keep in mind that read receipts are not always reliable, as recipients can easily ignore or disable them. Additionally, some email providers may not support read receipts or may have restrictions on using them.
