Cannot send mail higher than 5mb in outlook
The pesky file size limit!
Outlook has a default file size limit of 5MB for sending attachments. This is a security feature to prevent large files from being sent accidentally or maliciously. However, you can increase this limit or find alternative solutions to send larger files. Here are a few options:
Increase the file size limit in Outlook:
- Go to Outlook's Options (File > Options > Mail).
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Under "Send and receive," look for the "Maximum file size" setting.
- Change the value to a higher number (e.g., 10MB, 20MB, etc.).
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
Use a file compression tool:
- Compress your file using a tool like WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR.
- Attach the compressed file to your email.
- The recipient can extract the file using the same compression tool.
Use a cloud storage service:
- Upload your file to a cloud storage service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive.
- Share the file's link with the recipient via email.
- The recipient can download the file from the cloud storage service.
Use a third-party add-in:
- Install a third-party add-in like Attachment Manager or Large File Sender.
- These add-ins can help you send larger files by breaking them into smaller chunks or using cloud storage.
Contact your email administrator:
If you're using an Exchange server or a corporate email account, you may need to contact your email administrator to increase the file size limit or set up a different solution.
Remember to always check with your email provider or organization's policies before sending large files to ensure you're not violating any file size limits or security restrictions.
