Cannot send mail higher than 5mb in outlook

The pesky file size limit!

Outlook has a default file size limit of 5MB for sending attachments. This is a security feature to prevent large files from being sent accidentally or maliciously. However, you can increase this limit or find alternative solutions to send larger files. Here are a few options:

Increase the file size limit in Outlook:

  1. Go to Outlook's Options (File > Options > Mail).
  2. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
  3. Under "Send and receive," look for the "Maximum file size" setting.
  4. Change the value to a higher number (e.g., 10MB, 20MB, etc.).
  5. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Use a file compression tool:

  1. Compress your file using a tool like WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR.
  2. Attach the compressed file to your email.
  3. The recipient can extract the file using the same compression tool.

Use a cloud storage service:

  1. Upload your file to a cloud storage service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive.
  2. Share the file's link with the recipient via email.
  3. The recipient can download the file from the cloud storage service.

Use a third-party add-in:

  1. Install a third-party add-in like Attachment Manager or Large File Sender.
  2. These add-ins can help you send larger files by breaking them into smaller chunks or using cloud storage.

Contact your email administrator:

If you're using an Exchange server or a corporate email account, you may need to contact your email administrator to increase the file size limit or set up a different solution.

Remember to always check with your email provider or organization's policies before sending large files to ensure you're not violating any file size limits or security restrictions.
