Commaille

A nice French word!

Commaille (pronounced koh-mah-yay) is a punctuation mark used in French to separate decimal fractions from the whole number part. It is similar to the decimal point (.) used in English, but it is a comma (,) followed by a space.

For example:

12,5 (twelve and a half)

In French, the commaille is used to separate the integer part of a number from the fractional part, whereas in English, the decimal point is used.

The commaille is an important part of French typography and is used in many contexts, including financial documents, scientific notation, and everyday writing.
